At Evari I am a member of a high performing, self managed development team. As a team we are focused on building a scalable, maintainable and stable platform for that allows the insurance industry to easily sell cover directly to customers.

In order to achieve these aims within a highly regulated industry, we have focused on using distributed microservices, with resilient messaging systems and an event driven architecture.

Our flat structure and self organising team means that each member is responsible for taking part in the entirety of a feature's life cycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, API design, UX design, frontend and backend development, and testing.

The self organising nature of the team has allowed me to take on a number of team management responsibilities, with a particular focus on improving communication between developers, stakeholders, and the wider company.

As the product owner for the Student Management Systems and Learning Management Systems, I had a number of responsibilities centred around the delivery of software solutions to our internal customers. These included prioritisation of new features, triaging bugs, creation of product road maps, managing large cross functional teams, and reporting to senior executives.

As a development team lead, scrum master and senior developer I ran and participate in a number of large scale initiatives. These include developing a new RESTful API for our student management system, architecting new product features, our transition to a devops driven product team, and ongoing maintenance of our student and staff facing systems.

Working at Simplisite, I was involved in the full development process, including the scoping, development, deployment and maintenance of solutions for our clients.

Some of the major projects include a grain market bidding and price tracking platform, a platform for selling and administering insurance for franchises, and a seasonal ticket system for a theatre company.

At Birdbrain, I developed full stack solutions for our marketing clients. This included the development of websites from simple brochure sites up to large scale ecommerce solutions.

A large amount of this work involved the development of custom plugins to support integrations with external systems (such as real estate CRMs, Salesforce, inventory management systems and payment gateways).
